Method 1. Click
on the My Computer icon
in the toolbar, find the files
or folders you want (Ctrl or Shift click for multiple selection) and drag
them to a position in the tree (Tip: If you have the Windows XP toolbar
enabled for your Windows file explorer you will find it much easier to
get to the My Documents and other folders). If
you drag a file folder to the tree it will create a folder in the tree
and create items for all the files and folders within it. To
automatically generate items in your tree as files and folders are added
to your file system create a folder
watch.
Method 2.
Select the location where you want the files to be placed as new items.
Open the [File] text menu then [Import/Export].
Select [Import files as items].
Use the file explorer to select multiple files by either:
holding the Ctrl key and clicking on each file.
clicking on the first file in a set and holding the shift key and clicking on the last file in the set
Method 3.
Open your windows file explorer and navigate to the folder containing the files and sub folders you wish to import.
Drag the folder or files from the windows file explorer to an appropriate location in the tree. KnowledgeWorkshop will create corresponding new items and folders in your tree based on the structure in your file system.
Note: For all of the above methods all the new items will be created at one time and given the same title as the file name. You may have to go to each Item individually to rename them and enter additional properties.
Method 4.
Create a new item by either:
Single click on an existing item to create an item for the file beneath it or click anywhere within the All Folders panel to create a root At the base of a tree. item. Select New then File from the popup menu.
Click on the File text menu and then [New] and [File].
Select [New] from the Main Menu and then [File].
Enter a name for the File in the tree
Right click the new item and select Properties.
In the File Tab select the file by either:
Manually enter the path and file name for the document.
Click on the [Browse Files..] button . Select
the file from your file explorer and click on [Open].
Note: You
can just enter a path and no file name to create an item that is a shortcut
to a folder. This
will display the folder contents in the Content
Pane when opened.
Enter any other properties for the item that you wish to specify.
Click [Ok] to create the item.
Select the section of the document you wish to save as a item.
Drag the selection to the tree to create a clipping
