1. Custom attributes now enable you to define a pick-list of values. This list is shown to you when you want to assign a value to an attribute, and when using the advanced search.
   To set up a pick-list: From the Tools menu select "Manage Custom Attributes...". Select the attribute and click the Edit button. Check the box "Restrict Values", and then the "Edit List" button. You can then add values to (and delete values from) the pick-list. Click the OK button on each dialog when done.
2. Advanced searches can now be saved. These are saved to a new "Searches" folder under the "Administration" folder. The advanced search dialog has two new buttons: "Save As..." to save the search, and "New Search" to create a new search (if you don't want to change the current one in the dialog). So now if you have some searches that you run regularly, you don't have to create them again each time, just save them, and then open them from the Searches folder when needed.
3. The advanced search dialog now enables you to specify "AND" and "OR" in the rows of search criteria to give you greater flexibility when searching. When you add multiple search criteria to the list, "AND" is chosen by default. If you want to change any to "OR" just click on the "AND" and you can select "OR" instead. When performing the search, the "AND" operator is of higher precedence than "OR".
4. A new zoom feature has been added to the browser (look under the "View" menu, or click on the new zoom percentage shown in the status bar when a browser is showing in the main display). "Ctrl +" and "Ctrl -" keyboard shortcuts can also be used to zoom in and out, as can holding down the Ctrl key while moving the mouse wheel. "Ctrl 0" restores the zoom to 100%.
5. A new FavIcon has been added to the browser address bar. This shows the FavIcon symbol for the website showing in the browser. You can drag from this icon into the navigation tree to create an item to represent the webpage, and can also drag it out to other applications, including your file system and desktop.
6. A drag and drop capability has been added to enable you to drag and drop items from your KW navigation tree out to other applications which can accept URLs dragged into them. This feature can be used to create kw:// hyperlinks in documents etc. By navigating these hyperlinks, the KW item identified by this special kw:// URL will be opened by KnowledgeWorkshop.

1. New feature: Create topic from web clippings: drag selected text and images from a browser into the topics tree to create a topic containing the selected content. You can also (with Professional and Plus editions) have a reference/citation added along with the clipped content. The original Source URL is also shown in the header panel as a hyperlink.
2. New feature: Web page snapshots: Create a snapshot of a webpage - the content will be stored in the database. Use to keep a copy of a web page as of a certain point in time. When you drag a browser tab onto the topic tree you will be asked if you want to create a topic containing a reference to the page, or whether you want to store the page content. There is also a new option available in Tools->Options which skips asking you this question (if selected, then the behavior is to create a reference for a regular drag and drop of the tab, and to create a snapshot archive if you have the Control key pressed while dropping).

Problems in the underlying operating system software compound the difficulties. Former versions of KW automatically set the "Work Offline" mode whenever loss of network connection is detected. This enables the browser to retrieve cached versions of web pages (where these exist) rather than simply reporting an error. This version includes a new option to give users control over this. It is located under Tools->Options on the "Browsing" page, and is a checkbox entitled "Set Work Offline mode on Network Disconnection".
6. Change to the browser that is launched when a hyperlink in a discussion posting is clicked. This used to launch Internet Explorer, but now launches a KW browser window.
7. Fix problem with notes whereby unused style markup could accumulate over time as the note is manipulated, thus growing the note file size unnecessarily.

1. New feature: creation of text topics whose content is stored in the database rather than in a file on the local file system. Otherwise, these topics can be used like any other topic. Note that text files opened in the browser are shown read-only so users should either ensure that files with "txt" extensions are not included in the list of file extensions which will be opened in the browser (Tools->Options->Browse) or should right click on the text topic and select "Open In->External Application" and it will open in Notepad, or whatever program is configured to open plain text files.

2. Add ability to minimize application to System Tray. New user settable options added to control this task tray behavior, including ability to minimize application on close, rather than exiting it. You can turn on this behavior if you frequently want to access KnowledgeWorkshop during the day but don't want it occupying space on your desktop or taskbar, and yet you want it to be ready for use whenever you need it.
3. Better viewing of local image files. If you enable image files (gif, jpeg, jpg, bmp, png) to open in the browser, these will now be shown "Best Fit" so that you will see the entire image. A zoom control has also been added. If you have slides or photographs on your computer, you will really appreciate this one. Make topics of them, and add some text to the topic's "Description" property and you can see the image and this description at the same time (show the Header pane).
4. Fix problem with copying topics or notes which could happen in certain circumstances, resulting in the copy appearing to take place, but not actually completing correctly.
5. Add ability to increase and decrease the text size in the browser. This appears under the "View->Text size" menu. (Note: due to the way some web pages are styled, this feature does not work on all web pages).
6. The "Properties" menu item has been moved under the "File" menu.
7. By setting new options (Tools->Options menu, Browsing page) you can new open items from the navigation trees with one click. With one-click open selected, you can prevent navigation to a web page by holding down the "Alt" key when you select an item from the navigation tree.
