Import web structure

Location:  Right click on a Item and select "Import web structure" from the context menu.

URL:  The root At the base of a tree. page from which the site will be crawled to determine links and to build a representative structure of the site.  This is a read only field and is based on the topic selected before this function is initiated.

General Options

Levels to follow:  Enter a number between 1 and 3 or use the up and down arrows to increase or decrease the number displayed.  Entering a 1 indicates that pages linked to the selected item will be imported.  Entering a 2 means that pages linked from linked pages will be imported and so on.

Don't follow external links:  With this box checked only pages with the same root URL will be imported.  Clear this check box if you wish pages located in other sites to be imported.

Skip duplicate links:  With this box checked a link is only displayed a single time in the tree structure even if it is encountered multiple times during the page link analysis.  Clear this box if you wish an item to appear for each and every link to it from the page.

Import web content only:  When checked only web pages and embedded items will be imported.  When cleared, linked documents and files will also be imported.

Sort imported links by title:  Generate a tree structure from the link analysis that is displayed in alphabetical order based on the title of the link's target page.

Run scripts while parsing:  Some web pages generate links based on embedded script.  To follow these links the scripts must be executed to determine the embedded links and generate items based on them.

Duplicate titles

Item names are created from the title of each link.  The link analysis may therefore generate topics with the same name.  KnowledgeWorkshop does not allow duplicate item names.  Select one of the radio buttons to determine how this is handled.

Ignore links with no title:  When checked a tree item is not created if the link does not have a title.

Requires authentication

If access to the site you are crawling requires a username and password check the box and enter the information in the text fields.
